Stairs & Storage

What a great idea. If you’re having some stairs constructed why not consider this. Handy and hidden, a great storage idea for linen, winter woollies, books and papers, anything small in fact. This ingenious design from Vogue Living Australia installs drawers into your stairs, allowing for a completely optimal use of space.

You can go the hidden route left or also try the Japanese Step Tansu (Kaidan Tansu) style below. Either way you will save space and give your friends something to talk about.

We’re sick of big and bulky dressers filling our limited living space. And not only that, but thieves would never think to look for drawers in the stairs if, God forbid, your house ever gets broken into. — Andrew Dobrow

Check out the review of Built-In Furniture by Jim Tolpin. It gives ideas and plans on how to make some of this hidden art.
